Our Story

As third generation Canadian farmers, we celebrate our family roots.  In 1945, Michael and Anna Bartkiw, immigrants from the Ukraine began farming in Niagara with the purchase of a Grimsby property.

Their youngest son, James, and his wife Lynn carried on the family tradition by purchasing a Jordan farm in 1970.

Jim Bartkiw Jr. purchased the Vineland farm in 1995.  He and his wife Tara now operate both Jordan and Vineland locations.

The Bartkiw family currently farm 100 acres of tender fruit in Niagara.  Over the years our family has strived to provide the highest quality of peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots and cherries.  Our production season runs from mid July to mid September.  Yellow plums are the first to ripen followed by apricots and early peaches.  Nectarines and blue plums follow.

To ensure freshness from our orchards to you, we grow, pack and ship our produce directly to wholesalers and grocers in Canada.

We have, and will continue to invest in new technology and equipment to increase sustainability.  Recently drip irrigation systems have been installed as well as wind machines to enhance frost and freeze protection.  In addition IPM ( Integrated  Pest Management) is employed by the farm in an effort to reduce the use of chemicals.

In order to reduce waste, our imperfect fruit ( those not accepted by wholesalers, eg: hail damage, sizing) is sold roadside at the farm in an effort to reduce waste and provide fresh fruit at a reasonable cost.

For over the past twenty-five years we have employed seasonal Mexican workers.  We consider them the backbone of our business and our extended family.  They have watched our children grow and many have been coming to our farm for over two decades.
